American Fear...America's Secret Weapon
We have identified our enemy but has the enemy identified us? We call ourselves a peacful nation and civilized people above ethnic cleansing, and above the hate that is seen across the globe. Fact is, we are no different. We simply have a higher tolerance level. A breaking point. I felt sorrow for the Afghan people and the life they have to endure. Since the biological fear sweeping the country I feel myself care just a little less. I already hear people talking of "wiping them out", their breaking point has already been broken. I believe everyone has a breaking point and that point is proportional to the threat agains them personally. It is proportional to the fear in their heart.
The enemy has decided that it knows us. It knows our limits and can exploit our weaknesses to victory. They have not correctly identified their enemy.....us! We are ferocious and ruthless. They would like to wipe out our race of people, death to all Americans, but do not have the means and cannot succeed. We currently do not wish to wipe out their race of people but do have the means, and could come closer to success than they would ever imagine.
Years ago the US had in the final stages of development, genetic weapons called "Super Bugs", that attacked a particular gene found in certain people. This bug would target only individuals with a certain genetic make up. I remember the debate, but it seems to have been forgotten. At the time there was even claims that "sickle cell" was created for this purpose but in fact it turned out that the idea of the technology and it's military use, came from this naturally occurring disease.
The terrorists count on the fact that we do not have the resolve to
sustain our freedom. They are incorrect. They seem believe all they need is a high body
count and fear, and Americans will cave in to those fears. Before the September 11th
attacks the opinion of people varied greatly in thier view of the Muslim world. Now, it is
slowly growing towards hatred. The terrorists nor the Muslim world recognizes that they
are turning us against them in a manner than is
nothing less than pure hate. The same degree of hate they have for us. They were safer
when we were apathetic to their plight.
Acts of terrorism are designed to gain our attention to their cause, but is having a
negative affect. Now we are not just apathetic, we are being pushed into not caring. Our
news media, used as a pawn by terrorists is also nothing but a pawn that cultivates our
hate for the muslim world. We are beginning to not care. Not caring is dangerous. Our fear
is becoming sustained by an endless barrage of news reports. American fear is dangerous.
With each terrorist act we care less about the "Palestinian cause". We care less about thier religion. We view Mecca and Medina as more of a potential target than a place of worship. We care less about the muslim population. We care less about their poverty. This is by no means a wholesale train of thought but it will grow in proportion to their attacks and proportion to our fears.
If the current US military tactic does not work, what will we do next? How does it escalate? Will the arab terrorists bomb schools? Hospitals? Old folks homes? These are all legitimate targets to the terrorists. What is our breaking point? What is your breaking point? That point when you say anything goes in the effort of warfare? Some peace loving people's opinions do not break until long after a catastophic event. But it will break. Their view will change with every escalating event. Fear and anger are bedfellows in the American heart.
What are Americans capable of? With the prospect of losing 1,000,000 American lives lets look back in history and see what we are capable of........Immediately after the first Atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima 70,000 japanese men, women and children were killed. In Nagasaki, 40,000 killed. Between the 2 bombs dropped there were 110,000 instant casualties. There were 130,000 injured. The death toll in 1950 from long term effects - 340,000. We inflicted almost a half million casualties on one of the most relentless and ferocious enemies we ever faced in 2 operations. There were 48,000 buildings out of 76,000 were totally demolished. The 2 largest cities of the Japanese empire disappeared in a matter of seconds. There have been debates about the use of such weapons and our ignorance for using them. It was not ignorance that caused us to use them. It was fear. Our "Fear" has brought us into every conflict that we have ever engaged in. We were ruthless and relentless.
I believe, "how far we go", will be determined by "how far they go". We have gloated for years on being a "civilized nation". We have frowned upon nations who engage in ethnic cleansing, and atrocities on innocent peoples. Deep down though we are no more civilized than anyone else. At some point that will all change. I am hearing hints of it now from a variety of places. We need to do this and that to all those %#$&*@.! That mindset will spread like wildfire when the time comes. You can see the beginnings. Staunch protestors of "profiling" are now silent and even support the idea. People are caring less about civilian casualties. Hate is growing. Hate is an offshoot of fear. Terrorists acts are designed to incite fear and is an effective tool in warfare. Used against Americans is only effective up to a point. Then it becomes counter-productive.
The Islamic terrorists have grossly miscalculated their enemy. When they generate enough hate and fear, their plight, their cause, and everything they hold precious will become targets of hate. What they fight to gain will be lost forever. Americans are a peacful people but brutal when stirred. Fear does not make us cowards. It makes us dangerous. Look back at our history and see what fear has made us do. Our present enemy does not know us. The have selected to provoke fear into our hearts, but did not accurately calculate it's result. In fear we do not lay down our arms but in fact pick them up. Fear of our liberty at risk, makes us a formidable opponent. Fear of our freedom, families, children and place our very existence at risk and we are among the most ruthless people on the planet. Our fear will be their demise. Fear is our "Secret Weapon".
